I view midwifery as much more than a career choice. I believe at the root of things, midwifery is a calling. It called out to me over 30 years ago as friends began to request I assist them with childcare for older children at their births and it kept calling as I found a preceptor and began my studies and journey into coming into my own as a midwife.

I feel to be a midwife is to minister to women and families as they journey through the changes in their body throughout pregnancy , through unfamiliar sensations of labor and in witnessing the miracle of a family becoming, as a mother gazes into the face of the one her body has carried and then into the face of her partner as they recognize who this new person is.

Coming along side of families as they prepare for and anticipate the arrival of the new member is an honor and privilege to witness and take part in.  By getting to know the family along the weeks and months before birth we are more able to provide the individualized care and develop a relationship of mutual respect and trust.

In the past few years I have begun to feel the need to make sure my community will be well cared for in future years and have come alongside younger women who are following the calling.  My desire is for there to always be a wise and caring midwife for each women who desires the care in her pregnancy and birth.

Besides having a deep love for midwifery and my clients, I have been married to my long suffering husband, Bill Fisher for over 40 years. We have 4 children all grown now and 6 grandchildren. I love to cook and bake though the last decade has been frustrating with a relearning of skills due to multiple food allergies. I have always kept a garden and know that prayer and feeding the soul happen well while weeding. I also enjoy sewing and quilting and find it a relaxation and comfort to be able to continue to come up with new creations.
